NetSciReg’19

Synopsis

The NetSciReg’19 symposium will explore recent advances in understanding the interplay between regulatory network structure, epigenetics, cellular function and evolution, topics on which abstract submissions are welcome. Our invited speakers will approach these topics from several distinct angles:

  1. Dynamics of large biological networks
Theme: How can we analyze and extract meaningful answers from large networks without getting lost in minute details?
  2. From big network data to cell phenotype
Theme: How do large, data-driven networks help us uncover the logic of and predict cell behavior?
  3. Evolution in cellular networks
Theme: How does evolution shape cellular networks? How does this lead to an organism’s genetic traits and behaviors?

Goal:

  • Mix ideas that originate from top-down focus on regulatory networks with insight from smaller-scale modeling, tightly coupled to experimental biology.
  • Spark new questions, seed the development of new approaches and advance our understanding of regulatory network biology on multiple levels of organization.

The half-day workshop on May 28th will feature four invited speakers, three contributed talks and a small number of posters (please see our preliminary Program).

Following our satellite, we encourage you to stick around for  Network Medicine ’19 in the afternoon (http://sharmalab.bwh.harvard.edu/netmed19/). NetMed has a fabulous speaker lineup and explores similar themes to our workshop,  with a stronger medical focus.

Invited Speakers

  1. Anne-Ruxandra Carvunis, University of Pittsburg School of Medicine
  2. Jorge Zañudo, Pennsylvania State University
  3. John Platig, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School
  4. István A. Kovács, Northeastern University

Call for Abstracts
The workshop will host two contributed talks (15 minutes including questions) and a small number of posters. Swift application for contributed talks and poster presentaitons is welcome (the latest date for consideration is March 10). Please email your abstract to Dr. Erzsébet Regan. Acceptances should be communicated around March 24.

Registration: Please follow instructions for registering at the main NetSci2019 conference site at  NetSci2019 Registration page. The NetSciReg’19 workshop can be attended separately from the main NetSci conference with a one day satellite/school registration.

Date & Location:  8:30 AM – 12:15 PM on May 28th, 2019, Chittenden Room, University of Vermont Davis Center , Burlington, VT
